2024 Statistics Winter Workshop on Causal Inference and its Application

This year, the University of Florida Statistics Department is excited to co-organize our annual Winter Workshop focusing on causal inference with the Department of Economics. Causal inference is an important and active area of research with applications in a wide range of scientific areas. Statistical and econometric methodology for inferring causality from observational data is therefore a crucially important endeavor. This workshop brings together top researchers in the fields of economics and statistics who work at the forefront of both methodological development and the application of causal inference methodology to address important problems in applied research. The goals of the workshop are to discuss recent advancements in causal inference methodology and their applications, identify new and important problems for research, highlight work from young investigators through a vibrant poster session, and to foster collaborations among researchers in the field. There will be a conference poster session for young researchers and travel awards to select junior researchers to help them attend the workshop.

2024 Conference on Statistical Practice

The American Statistical Association’s Conference on Statistical Practice highlights techniques and best practices for applied statisticians and data scientists. CSP attracts nearly 400 attendees with its engaging technical program, courses and tutorials, exhibits, résumé service, and social events. Learn new statistical methodologies and best practices in statistical analysis, design, consulting, and programming.

SIAM Conference on Uncertainty Quantification

Uncertainty quantification (UQ) is essential for establishing the reliability of predictions made by computational models. Such models are often deterministic, and the UQ discipline has traditionally focused on how to quantify uncertainty in that case. Statistical methods play a major role in that effort, and represent an alternative modeling strategy when less is known about the system of interest. The two approaches are naturally synergistic, and with the emergence of machine learning as a practical tool, it is becoming more important than ever to view the whole UQ ecosystem through a unifying lens.

UQ is application-driven and inherently indisciplinary, relying on a broad range of mathematical and statistical foundations, domain knowledge, and algorithmic and computational tools. UQ24 will bring together mathematicians, statisticians, scientists, engineers, and others interested in the theory, development, and application of UQ methods. Major conference themes will include mathematical and statistical foundations, data-driven approaches and computational advances, applications of UQ in biology, medicine, environmental and climate sciences, decision making for societal benefit, and all areas of physical science and engineering. The goal of the conference is to provide a forum for exchanging ideas between diverse groups from academia, industry, and government laboratories, thereby enhancing communication and contributing to future advances in the field.

The 9th Workshop on Biostatistics and Bioinformatics

Registration is now open for the 9th Workshop on Biostatistics and Bioinformatics in Atlanta, USA on May 3-5, 2024. See the Conference Website for more information and to register.

The keynote speaker is Dr Michael Kosorok, W.R. Kenan, Jr. Distinguished Professor, Department of Biostatistics, and Professor, Department of Statistics and Operations Research, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the current President, Institute of Mathematical Statistics.

There will be invited talks by distinguished researchers, and a poster session by young researchers and graduate students.

The workshop will be providing partial travel awards to selected conference participants. Priority will be given to senior graduate students, post-graduate, recent PhDs, junior faculty, and under-represented groups. Check the application of travel award for young and minority researchers.

Design and Analysis of Experiments 2024 (DAE 2024)

DAE 2024 will bring together researchers and practitioners to discuss ideas and techniques for designing and analyzing effective experiments. As with earlier meetings, this twelfth convening of the successful DAE series emphasizes interaction and encourages participation of young researchers, while focusing on rapidly evolving developments in both theory and practice. Each of the topic sessions will feature at least one early-career speaker. There will be poster sessions, roundtable discussions, a student award competition, and mentoring opportunities. Financial support will be provided (subject to funding) for student attendees, and to others as available.

8th International Workshop in Sequential Methodologies

The Department of Mathematics at Utah Valley University (UVU) is pleased to organize the 8th International Workshop in Sequential Methodologies (IWSM2024) during May 21- 24, 2024. The Department of Mathematics at UVU is located on the main campus in the city of Orem in the state of Utah, USA.

The International Workshop in Sequential Methodologies (IWSM) is a biennial conference that covers all aspects of sequential methodologies in statistics, applied mathematics, information theory, change point detection, and virtually any applications in mathematical finance, quality control, clinical trials, signal and image processing, etc. The goal of the workshop is to bring together researchers and users from all areas of sequential methodologies and beyond. The presentations are not limited to the field of sequential analysis. Speakers from other areas of probability and statistics are welcome.

2024 Symposium on Data Science and Statistics

ICSA Applied Statistics Symposium

The 34th annual applied statistics symposium of the International Chinese Statistical Association will convene at Loews Vanderbilt Hotel. The theme is “Data-Driven Decision Making: Unleashing the Power of Statistics,” with short courses, invited sessions, posters, and more, with Hongtu Zhu, Yu Shen, and Jing Huang giving keynote talks, and Mingyao Li as the banquet speaker. More than 500 statisticians in academia, government and industry are expected to attend. Short course and invited session proposals are due by January 15, 2024. Student paper competition submissions are due by April 1, 2024. We welcome queries about sponsorship and volunteering.

The 2024 Joint Research Conference on Statistics in Quality, Industry and Technology

The 2024 Joint Research Conference on Statistics in Quality, Industry and Technology will be held in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada from June 17-20, 2024 at the University of Waterloo. This is a joint meeting of the 29th Spring Research Conference on Statistics in Industry and Technology and the 40th Quality and Productivity Research Conference. The conference is co-sponsored by the American Statistical Association Section on Quality and Productivity, the American Statistical Association Section on Physical & Engineering Sciences, and the Institute of Mathematical Statistics. Organization of this conference is also in partnership with Virginia Tech. The goal of this conference is to stimulate interdisciplinary research and innovative solutions to practical problems though interactions among statisticians, data scientists, quality professionals, engineers, students, and others from diverse fields. The theme of this year’s conference is, Data Science and Statistics for Industrial Innovation. The technical program will focus on statistical methodology and creative problem solving to address scientific, industrial, and business challenges, drawing upon advances from the fields of statistics, machine learning, and data science.

International Conference on Establishment Statistics (ICES VII)

The International Conference on Establishment Statistics promotes discussion of a broad range of issues related to the statistics of businesses, farms, and institutions. ICES features invited and contributed papers and demonstrations from around the globe that highlight new, improved, and upcoming establishment statistics methodologies and technologies using census data, administrative data, and sample survey data.

44th International Symposium on Forecasting

The International Symposium on Forecasting (ISF) is the premier forecasting conference, attracting the world’s leading forecasting researchers, practitioners, and students. 4th Corsican Summer School on Modern Methods in Biostatistics and Epidemiology: Statistical methods and recent advances in statistical methods fox excess risk analysis

The Corsican Summer School on Modern Methods in Biostatistics and Epidemiology is a crucial event for learning more about statistical methods and recent advances in statistical methods for analysing excess risk. The fourth edition will take place from July 01st to 05th, 2024, in Corte (Corsica, France). This course will focus on: (i) the main statistical methods and the more recent advances in statistical methods for excess risk analysis, and (ii) the transfer of methods for net survival estimations to some other specific applications (clinical research, occupational epidemiology). The objectives of the course are: (i) to disseminate the concepts, methods and the more recent statistical tools to analyse net survival and excess mortality; (ii) to offer an informal and user-friendly setting of scientific exchanges in order to improve knowledge and practical skills to estimate, model, program, analyse and interpret results of excess risk analysis. The Summer School is aimed at biostatisticians, statisticians, epidemiologists; researchers and students; those working in a registry of cancer, of chronic disease or in any other field relevant to these methodologies and applications.
