3.        Seminario sobre formación inicial del profesorado de Matemáticas de Educación Secundaria

Auspiciado por el Comité Español de Matemáticas, CEMat, del que la SEIO es miembro, se celebrará los días 2-4 de marzo de 2018 en Castro Urdiales un Seminario sobre formación inicial del profesorado de Matemáticas de Educación Secundaria:

Somos conscientes de que una deficiente formación del profesorado de secundaria en probabilidades y estadística trae nefastas consecuencias en la formación de los estudiantes, muchos de los cuales serán estudiantes universitarios, y todos son ciudadanos que vivirán en la sociedad del dato.

Una correcta formación en probabilidad y estadística del alumnado de secundaria pasa por una correcta formación en probabilidad y estadística del profesorado de secundaria.  Velar por ello debe ser estratégico para la sociedad y es estratégico para nosotros.

Animamos a nuestros socios a asistir a este seminario.

El presupuesto de la SEIO para gastos de viajes y alojamiento es, como sabéis, mínima, por lo que NO nos podemos hacer cargo de financiar o cofinanciar viaje o alojamiento (el evento se desarrollará en el hotel Las Rocas de Castro Urdiales).

ENBIS SPRING MEETING 2018: CALL FOR PAPERS

ABSTRACTS SUBMISSION DEADLINE IS FEBRUARY 28th

The 2018 ENBIS Spring Meeting will focus on design of experiments for quality of products and sustainability in agri-food systems. It will take place from Monday, June 4th (opening at lunch time) to Wedsneday, June 6th (closing meeting at lunch time) in Florence (Italy).

 

In the field of technology, theory of experimental design has been given a great evolutionary impulse with the introduction of the concept of quality and reliability improvement. The robust design approach through Response Surface Methodology and Generalized Linear Models quickly established itself as indispensable in new fields such as marketing and bio-technologies. New technologies are being developed using optimal experimental designs.

More recently, a systematic study of product quality as a function of all phases in the supply and value chains, including chemical analyses, labelling and certifications (related to social, economic and environmental issues) has been playing an increasing role. Exploration of associations among quality, organoleptic properties, taste and certification, and discussion of the main relations around the sustainability of commodities, are key issues to be implemented in new economic strategies at a global scale.

 

A systematic study of consumer behaviour is a natural consequence of these developments. By considering product labeling and mandatory disclosure, consumer preferences and judgments play a relevant role in product quality and product utility assessments, in which multi-attribute valuation methods (e.g. choice experiments) may be applied.

 

Highlights of the ENBIS Spring Meeting 2018 include:

 Two esteemed keynote speakers:

 Jesús Fernando López Fidalgo will discuss Bayesian Optimal Experimental Design;

 G. Geoffry Vining will talk about Planning Experiments to Improve Food Product Quality.

 A number of contributed sessions featuring presentations from both industry (on successful applications) and academia, aimed at covering the theory and applications of experimental design both in technological field and in sustainability for agri-food systems.

 An award for the best contributed talk selected among younger researchers (below 40).

 Social dinner in a very beautiful villa situated on the hills surrounding the city of Florence.

 

Contributions are welcome on particularly challenging technological issues and sustainability problems, as well as on methodologies related to experimental design and modeling. Possible topics are related (but not limited) to:

 design of experiments;

 response surface methodology;

 robust process optimization;

 optimal designs;

 choice experiments;

 choice modelling;

 conjoint analysis;

 data analysis for sustainability:

 

We cordially invite you to submit an abstract (maximum 1000 words including title, authors and affiliations, as well as references; font size 12 pt) by February 28th, 2018, at the latest.

To submit your abstract go to www.enbis.org, log in and search for ENBIS Spring Meeting 2018 under Upcoming Events. If you are not already a member of ENBIS, please join first (note there is no membership fee for individual members of ENBIS).

Notifications of the acceptance of submissions will be sent out no later than March 11th, 2018. Registrations will close on April 30th, 2018.

Practical details on travel and accommodation will be available on the ENBIS Web (www.enbis.org) in the Upcoming Events section. The registration fee is EUR 350 (the reduced fee for students is EUR 220). The registration fee includes the Spring Meeting Proceedings, the social dinner, lunches and dinner during the meeting.

 

Please note that Florence is one of the most popular destinations for tourists and lovers of art and fashion all year round. For this reason, we strongly recommend you book your travel and accommodation early (Spring Meeting dates follow a long weekend!). A link to a dedicated booking engine with discounted

Call for papers
Contributions dealing with any aspect of Applied Combinatorial Optimization are welcome. This includes theoretical achievements, algorithm development and real-world implementations.

Two kinds of submission are possible: short abstracts of at most 1500 characters including up to three references, and extended abstracts of up to 8 pages. All submissions will undergo a review process. Short abstracts will be distributed at the conference. Extended abstracts will be published on a special issue of Electronic Notes in Discrete Mathematics (ENDM) associated with the conference. A Feature Cluster of the European Journal of Operational Research, devoted to Applied Combinatorial Optimization, will be published. High quality papers presented at the conference will be invited to this cluster.

CALL FOR PAPERS

 

The Tunisian Decision Aid Society organizes the inaugural conference of the African Federation of Operational Research Societies (AFROS 2018). The AFROS 2018 is the African conference for Operational Research and Management Science (ORMS) and is a forum for the presentation of recent developments and applications in the field of OR/MS. This Conference aims to disseminate recent models and techniques related to OR/MS through researchers and practitioners from Africa and all over the world. There will be rigorous plenary talks by invited speakers as well as contributed talks. A Doctoral Workshop for doctoral students at the early stage of their dissertation research will be organized during the conference and will include a variety of panels as well as, practical sessions on developing dissertation proposals and launching academic careers, and a meet-the-editors session.

 

Submitted Extended Abstracts (at most 2 pages) should be written in English and submitted online via EasyChair. They should clearly include: i) title, list of key-words, author(s) full name(s), affiliation(s), complete address(es), and e-mail address(es); ii) the name of the contact person who will attend the conference (in charge of the 15 minutes oral presentation); iii) the track to which you want to submit your abstract:
